Bonaccorsi Wine Company
($60) Bright ruby. Primary dark berry and cherry skin scents are complicated
by Asian spices and potpourri. Expansive, deeply concentrated raspberry and
candied cherry flavors are framed by silky tannins and pick up a smoky mineral
quality with air. Showing a boatload of fruit today, but I'd still wait a couple
more years on this one.
($50) Full ruby color. Explosive aromas of blackberry, mulberry, smoked meat
and dark chocolate. Deep, palate-staining dark berry flavors are energized by a
note of cracked pepper and pick up floral character with aeration. The finish
repeats the dark berry and smoke notes and clings with impressive tenacity. This
is complex enough to enjoy right now.
($60) Deep, bright red. Fresh red- and blackcurrants on the nose, with notes
of rose, allspice and cinnamon adding complexity. Juicy and focused, with sweet
red berry flavors and a lashing of zesty minerality. Tight, youthful and
admirably concentrated, finishing with excellent spicy persistence.
($50) Saturated ruby. Intriguing aromas of red berries, smoked meat, olive
and graphite, in the style of a suave northern Rhone wine. Peppery and incisive,
offering vivid red and dark berry flavors and a silky texture. The olive and
graphite notes hang on with real intensity on the finish.
($60) Deep, bright red. Vibrant strawberry and raspberry aromas are
complicated by blood orange, potpourri and minerals. Tangy, sharply focused red
fruit flavors are impressively lithe, with a nervy wild strawberry note
resonating on the long, pure, spicy finish, which shows very good lift and
($60) Ruby-red. Pungent aromas of raspberry and cherry skin, rose and smoky
minerals. Lithe, sharply focused red fruit flavors stain the palate, with a note
of bitter chocolate adding a deeper element. Becomes spicier with air and
finishes with hints of mace and allspice. This is delicious right now.
($60) Bright red. Resinous red and dark berries on the nose, with hints of
herbs and dried flowers adding complexity. Lush and creamy in texture, offering
deep cherry and black raspberry flavors and an exotic note of black olive. This
rich, potent rendition of pinot will work well with strongly seasoned red
($55; 100% pinot noir) Dark red. Pungent aromas of cherry and blackberry are
complemented by licorice and gingerbread. Deep in dark fruit flavor but
energetic, offering sexy notes of Asian spices and candied licorice.
Fine-grained tannins add focus to the nicely persistent, spicy finish. Give this
some time in the decanter, or in the cellar.
($50) Vivid ruby. Spicy red and dark berry aromas are complemented by notes
of white pepper, violet and rose. Graceful and eerily pinot-like in its
expression of raspberry, cherry and candied flowers on the palate, with silky
tannins adding support. This elegant, precise syrah is drinking very well right
($60) Vivid red. High-pitched red berry and floral aromas are complemented by
notes of underbrush and botanical herbs. Chewy, concentrated red berry and
cherry flavors are firmed by dusty tannins, which gain power on the back end.
Shuts down with time in the glass but clearly possesses very good
($60) Ruby-red. Sexy aromas of candied red berries, flowers and incense, with
a gentle smoky note gaining strength with air. Deep but light-bodied dark berry
qualities on the palate, along with floral pastille and cinnamon nuances.
Finishes with good clarity and persistence. This wine is light enough to work
($50) Inky ruby. Brooding aromas of cherry skin, licorice and dark chocolate.
Slow to unwind, eventually offering dense dark fruit preserve and bitter
chocolate flavors, with supple tannins adding support. Very rich but not showing
much energy today; will a couple of years of bottle age fix this wine's sullen
